Hellooo and happy Thursday!  Today I’m sharing one of my new fave products in a Tropical Tango Smoothie recipe that has allllll the island vibes.  Last week we had a cold snap in Denver, so of course I was dreaming of all things tropical. 😊

If you haven’t heard of Mooala yet, let me tell you why they’re sure to be a new part of your #fridgegoals.  First, if you’re in the Denver area, you can now buy their products at local Whole Foods and Safeway stores!  Yay for easy access.  I have been into their Bananamilk and Coconut Oatmilk lately, using them in my morning coffee or matcha, and in smoothies.  I’m a big fan of alternative milks, but a lot of them have weird ingredients or aren’t organic, so I don’t buy them.  It’s been especially hard to find an oat milk that’s up to my standards!  Here’s why Mooala is upping the non-dairy milk game:
  • Their milks are made with minimal ingredients, and the Bananamilk and Coconut Oatmilk are free of added sugar.  I also love that they’re both nut-free, so perfect for people with nut allergies!
  • Mooala’s milks are certified organic, something I particularly care about in my Oatmilk.  A recent study showed that 100% of non-organic oat samples tested positive for glyphosate (an herbicide that is widely used to accelerate the desiccation process in oat crops, best know for the recent court verdict linking it to cancer).  Many of these samples tested at levels over double what EWG (Environment Working Group) has determined as the safe level for daily exposure – because of this I am VERY picky about where my oats come from, and you should be, too!
  • Their milks are carrageenan free (an ingredient I avoid because it can compromise gut health).
  • Last, but definitely not least, they’re actually creamy and delicious!  I’ve really enjoyed adding them both to my weekly rotation.
Okay, okay, on to the recipe!

Tropical Tango Smoothie (serves 2)
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Mooala Bananamilk
  • 2 Tbsp unrefined organic coconut oil
  • Heaping ½ cup frozen pineapple
  • 2 large handfuls organic raw baby spinach
  • ½ an organic lime (if you have a Vitamix or Blendtec you can throw the entire ½ in, otherwise just add the juice)
  • 2 scoops collagen peptides
  • 1 scoop protein powder of choice (I use grass fed whey)

Throw it all in a blender and blend!  An umbrella in your drink is optional but recommended. 😉
